Services

Fabrics and Straight PinsWe are certified Juki dealers offering all sewing supplies and repairs in our home unless under Juki warranty. In some cases, the manufacturer requires us to ship the machine back to Juki for repairs. We are also equipped with loaner machines. We specialize in older machines including embroidery and treadles machines. All services are estimated at no charge to you. If the repair cannot be complete after the work is started due to more underlying problems, there may be a small fee. The customer will be called with the new estimate prior to proceeding with the repairs.

The service of machines can range from simple tension adjustments to complete tune-ups. The tuning up process comprises of internal moving parts, gear replacements, tension rebuilt, or work that cannot be completed in 10 minutes. All repairs are tested prior to calling customer for sewing and tension stitch. Quality is adjusted to meet manufacturer standards.

Education Lecture Programs
Together, Dan and Janet collaborated on two programs being offered for instruction at the Lodi Valley Quilt Academy, Quilt Guilds, Quilt Shows, Quilt Shops, Retreats, and private instructions. You will get handouts for both programs when attending the lecture. Ask your local Guild, Quilt Shop or Sewing Group to contact us regarding fees.

In our “101 Sewing Machine Maintenance” program, we educate people on the basics of sewing and quilting machines which is normally not told by any technician. This piece of information will be helpful for all sewing machine owners. A lot of ground will be covered in an hour long lecture. You will find many pictures and tools in the handout which are actually available for sale in our store. With this program, you can grab the amazing tool kit which costs only $25.00. In this program, you will learn about various types of bobbins, hooks, oiling, removing burrs and list plus dozens of other important things. By taking up this course, you will be able to keep your machine in tip top shape all the time.

In our “Burning the Midnight Oil,” you’ll learn various tips and tricks for many problems especially when working into the late hours of the night. This is not something which technicians will teach you. It will prove to be a cost saving guide and should be kept by the side of your sewing machine. Common problems will be discussed which can pop-up immediately, like skipping stitches, thread keeps breaking, fabric not feeding, looping on top, looping on bottom and so forth. When you leave this class, you will be more knowledgeable. You will be allowed to ask questions during the lecture so be sure to bring a pen and paper to write down your questions. After the class, you will be able to diagnose the problem, find the reason and a solution for it.

We can’t express how important it is to take care of your sewing machine. Your machine should be serviced every 6 months to a year depending on the usage. Even if you haven’t used your machine for a while, the oil should be refilled or changed. When you purchase a machine from a dealer, ask about the warranty. Juki requires an annual tune up to keep your warranty valid. A tune up should include intensive cleaning which requires a certified technician with training and the proper tools. Make sure to only purchase sewing, embroidery, quilting and serger machines through reputable dealers. If you plan to purchase online then you should know that there would be no lessons included with the machine. The service and warranty needs to be done by them, costing you shipping, otherwise you’ll be paying someone to work on it locally. This is how many manufactures work with their dealerships.
